The Aster Awards are presented by a medical marketing awards program that evaluates healthcare marketing and advertising campaigns designed, printed and/or distributed during 2012.

Employees participate in workout sessions to prepare for half-marathons in N.C. and Scotland

CARY, N.C.— Ockham Oncology, a privately held global oncology CRO, has launched an employee-fitness initiative with the dual goals of improving health as a group and as a community by financially supporting a family with a child undergoing treatments for pediatric cancer. The effort is known as the Stronger Together campaign.

The vision of Ockham Chief Executive Officer Jim Baker, Stronger Together promotes a weekly workout session during office hours and encourages additional training to prepare to participate in half marathons later in 2013.

The half-marathons are scheduled in Raleigh, N.C., and Glasgow, Scotland. The Raleigh marathon will be held November 3 as one of several events associated with the City of Oaks Marathon. The event in Scotland is the Great Scottish Run on October 6. The locations were chosen to accommodate employees working at the company’s corporate offices in Cary , N.C., and Roslin, a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Employees are encouraged to raise money to support their half-marathon effort; Ockham will match the contributions raised by employees.

“Stronger Together symbolizes our very real commitment to employee health and fitness while creating a personal effort that allows employees to raise money for a family struggling with pediatric cancer,” said Baker.

“As an oncology CRO, we know this disease well. As a company, we believe in what we are doing and our employees look forward to helping raise money to help a family in need,” Baker said. “If we can get healthier and support a family facing pediatric cancer, then it’s a win for everyone.”
